Oh and on the editor front - how many would really like to see the editor released and would actually do something with it ?

    Best regards,

Wow! The remake of Head over Heels is fantastic! I used to have this on my old Commodore 64 back in the day. I was about 13 then. I'm 32 now & I thought I'd download this for nostalgia sake. I'm hooked!! What have you done to me?! ohmy.gif Nice to be able to play remakes of such classics that retain the look but add a bit (in the case of HOH full colour & sound). Keep up the good work smile.gif

One gripe though - Saving. How does this work? Sometimes when I hit escape I see save game in the menu & then other times it's not there. I've just completed the dungeon world but I couldn't save the game after that. I went onto the Safari world & then died. Frustrating as now I have to go & do Dungeon all over again.

wow! wot can i say ,,, ... big thanks to the team who put this together ! this really is the remake of all remakes of the game of all games...
totally lost interest in games after i moved on from amiga and i personally felt the computer games no longer excited me ..
    but this is amazing ...
ive further into it now than when i was 12 or 13 .. im 29 now and havent spent this much time on any game since these years ...
got stuck big time on the egyptus disolving block bit ... really pulled my hair out and couldne believe my eyes when i found the solution in this foum ..

why are there no games up to scratch like this ?
the isolmetric style is perfect, timeless and just beautiful ...
any one have any other leads for a Head over Heels fan give me a message ... more work on these days than ever but great to loose my evenings on this ,,, ..

again massive thanks ... !! hats off and full respect .. u made a happy man really happy!

LOL. Exactly the same here smile.gif I never played it for this long first time round when I was about 13. I was playing it for about 2 hours last night! ohmy.gif I've figured out the save fish thing as well now. Although sometimes when I try to pick them up I die! Why is that? Got to a point now (Egypt) where I'm running out of lives & saves so things are getting tricky. Might have to go back & start again trying to save lives & save games! but what's the deal with the save fish? Why do some of them kill me?

    Yeah yeah.

Anyhow, i return. I stopped playing again after 1st getting the remake.
And i just remembered I had it! Awesome!
Except i've lost all "skills" again.

I swear it makes me want to hit my head against a brick wall.

All these years and i've still never got past the 1st "level". ARGH!

So if anyone would want to email me any hints, tricks, cheats, trainers, trust me they would be used wisely!!

And again - i love this remake!!

Yay! Just completed it. Only about 92% of rooms visited though. Are there hidden rooms?

Do you know, out of all the hundreds of C64 games I owned I think I only ever completed a couple of them! I found most of them to difficult. Games these days are a piece of piss compared to the old days.

Did you get the final crown? Where was it? I got to the throne room with the donut king but I couldn't find the crown in that room. The walkthrough I found said it was under the throne but I didn't pick up anything when I walked under both passages under the throne.

I only got 97% rooms explored. What did I miss? There was 1 room in bookworld I couldn't seem to get into until I was invunerable. Can't think where else the was something I missed. I'm pretty sure I went in all the rooms in the start area, the space base & also the final area where you get the final crown. I missed have missed something in one of other worlds

EDIT: I just remembered! There was a room I couldn't get to with Head in Safari. I was a door really high up.

    Hi,
I have the same problem: I have now finished the game several times, I got 5 crowns, 99% but i can only visit 274 roooms! Where is the 275th?? It's making me crazy: I swear I have visited ALL visible rooms, including the Pit inside Penitentiary, there is not a single visible doorway that I haven't been able to visit (some of them you can only visit when you're invulnerable).
Still, they only add up to 274, I even got them all mapped and wrote down all the room-numbers.

Is there one room hidden somewhere that can only be accessed by doing something special?
Please, this is driving me crazy...

    Any help greatly appreciated

    /Andrea

Great remake guys! But for the sake of my sanity, give me some cheats dammit!

I call shenanigans on anybody who claims they can complete it without cheats. I have downloaded the trainer, but it stops working in some rooms, and only works when Head and Heels are separated. If you don’t want to post them here, feel free to email or PM them to me. Wildcard[no-spam-please]@imsogood.com

Also, what’s the deal in the room with loads of Head/Heels and a cannon? The game seems to lock at that point.

Er, that's the completion effect - it's just like the original game's completion effect, only about 5% less sucky.

Obviously getting to that room doesn't necessarily mean you liberated many planets, though.

Isn't "the Emperor's Guardian" supposed to be a sort of floating sphere thing in a passage between the room with the monkey and the Throne Room?  It is in the original (at least on the Speccy and CPC464)...

The monkey isn't invulnerable to donuts in either of those versions.

OK, first on to the cheat - just press and hold all of the C H E A T keys in the menu ;-)

About the editor - no idea when, it needs some time before it can be released and I don't have much time lately... depends if you want to make a completely new game or just change current HoH ...

Oh and yes- the monkey in the room before the thrown room this time likes the donuts... just to make it that bit harder. Altough with so many people getting through there I don't think it is such a big obstacle...

    Best regards,
    Tomaz

How nice, this thread is the longest one on the Board, he heh heh hehe hehehe, shows what a great game this is.

Any news on any other ones?

Batman was mentioned about a year ago - I'd love to play that one again, as I never completed it.

Sweevo's World did have a thread of it's own but no-one's added anything for months...

Can anyone recommend other games for me to try? I love the 3D isometric walk-around solve-the-room type games.

And I'd still like to know the name of the (other) game I used to love, a very simple one that I actually completed, your Sprite was a box on legs that hopped from square to square, and the game went pitch dark every few minutes - as "night" fell - which meant you either died or stood very still until you had found the lantern. Ring any bells, anyone?

    Hello,

Sweevo's World is still being worked on and will be continued after Alien 8, which should do you for now smile.gif

Hey Neil, thanks for the response: yes of course Batman gets mentioned a lot, it was a great game, and if you guys can "re-visualise" it in the same superb way that you did HoH, then we are all sitting here with our tongues out, waiting for it!

    Alien 8 huh?

The few screen shots look GREAT, just my sort of thing, but it does not appear to be downloadable yet.

    Or did I miss something??

*bounces up and down on seat, fidgeting impatiently*

Does anyone recognise my description of the little game? A rectangular box on legs for a sprite, it hopped or bounced from square to square and you had to follow the paths through the (very small!) world to find the lantern, and a couple of other things. There was water, land, marsh, and a building of some sort. It was very basic, and cycled through the Speccy colours of red, green, blue etc, with the "night" cycle where it all went pitch black. Unless you had the lantern. But it was fun! And one of the few games that I have actually finished......

Big kisses to anyone who does Sweevo's World for us!!

Ooh, ooh, and what's Knight Lore? I've found some rave reviews for it, it seems to be the one that came before Alien 8 - is there a download anywhere?

By the way Neil, what are you doing up at quarter to one in the morning??

Knight Lore was only the first isometric arcade adventure. It was this that started the isometric revolution. Sadly my disclosure agreement means I cannot divulge further information. However, you might find more information here: http://retrospec.sgn.net/filmation.php

As for the lateness, this is the only time they let me out. When I go to bed Peter the nocturnal member starts his shift.

The main BatMan engine was done A LONG time ago - soon after HoH was finished. Main differences are that the Doors can now be inside the walls (as some people said it should also be the case with HoH) - so the caves look better and ofcourse all Batman extras are there. Here is a little test with a few rooms (graphics taken from CPC version and 2x scaled up) :

    http://retrospec.sgn.net/users/tomcat/BatManTest.zip

All of the objects that are in the original BatMan are in the first room. Also all of the extra BatMan abilities are in one of the rooms so you can test it ;-)

So basically to complete the game one would have to :

    1. Draw new graphics based on the old ones (as in HoH) - BIG task, especially if we want the quality and the variety that is in HoH

    2. Design all the original rooms from Bat-Man and maybe add some more just for fun (easy task - just work with the editor which is already done)

    3. Do the Front-End (also easy task)

    4. Add sound effects and music - not that much work really.

If anyone is interested in doing the new graphics and is capable of doing them in quality similar to Grahams graphics in Hoh then do give me a mail ;-)

    Best regards,
    Tomaz
