JUNGLE TROUBLE SOLUTION/GUIDE ============================= By Arif Majothi =============== For those people who are having trouble with this game, here is the solution (HINT: Play using skill level 4. Its slower and easier.): No doubt you played the game and have almost decomposed into a puddle of goo trying to figure out what the riddles written on the old note mean, and how to get past anything at all in the game. Well, I shall attempt to explain. 'Thy timing shall be put to test' 'The cursor keys will aid thy quest' The first riddle tells you that timing is critical for the whole game and only the cursor keys are needed. There are no fire keys or anything else like that. 'A friend awaits, set thy sights east' 'Each westward bound, avoids the beast' The second riddle tells you go right (east) and grab an axe as it will be helpful to you. Then to jump the stones. This can be tough. You must run left and as soon as he is at the edge of the riverbank, quickly let go of LEFT and press UP. Then you must time each and every bound by pressing UP when he lands on each stone or else you are gator chow. This is a real beggar to do, and even annoys the hell out of me. 'With every swing, thy axe degrades' 'Risk beast and lake, to get more blades' The third riddle is pretty straight forward. When the axe becomes blunt, go back and get another. Heres a hint when it comes to chopping the trees. If you let go of the LEFT key as the axe makes contact, the guy will reset back to his original position. Keep doing this and you will chop faster, rather than just holding down LEFT. Just watch out when the tree falls OK. Accidents have been known to happen when great big heavy trees fall on human beings...or monkeys for that matter! ;) 'BEWARE the path the monkeys tread!' 'If not thy axe they'll take thy head!' This riddle is also straight forward. If you dont have an axe for Mr chimp then you shall pay with your life. 'Teach thee scoundrels who be king,' 'An accursed fate lies in thy back-swing' This is a beggar to do! If your axe is sharp enough, and a monkey is stood behind you as you swing the axe back, then you can lop off his head! NOTE: This wont work if you are using the 'fast-chop' method mentioned earlier to cut the trees. You need to get a good back swing to kill the monkey. This won't work with a blunt axe. You need to have a more or less fresh axe in order to even bother attempting this. 'When fire and oakum see thee through' 'The earth will shake and split in two' This riddle tells you that once you are past the rope and fire, you will need to jump the chasm. (Oakum is basically an old English word for rope fibres) The fire part is not too hard. Slowly creep towards the edge of the ledge, until the guys foot is half over the edge. The just press UP until you grab the rope. When the guy is swinging, wait until he swings completely to the left, then just press DOWN to let go. When you are past the fire, run LEFT and dont stop! A chasm is about to open up in the ground. When jumping the chasm, you need to let go of LEFT and press UP when the guy is stood just about half over the edge of the chasm edge. If you fail, just walk back to the fire again, cos there will be no trees blocking your way at this point. (You still have to swing across the fire though!) There! Hope that helps. - Arif Majothi LEATHERFACE@HOTMAIL.COM http://retrospec.sgn.net
