Matt’s Ludum Dare Log

Setting up my weblog and eagerly anticipating the game. Just a pity that the theme of the game won’t be released here until about midnight. I’ll just have to sleep on the idea and see what my dreams produce.

Gah! Been waylayed all morning. I've only found out an hour ago about the theme. But I did spend last night watching Dawn of the Dead, so I think a zombie virus shooter hunt is on the agenda. It won't push any originality or technical envelopes. Just zombies and a big powerful gun. I've already done the main sprites. I'll upload a picture of them.

Reet, just had a pleasant few hours on the computer listening to the radio. My models have now been translated into 2D sprites with a bit of movement to make them more interesting to look at. You can move the main character around the screen and fire off bullets with gay abandon at the cursor target. I'm off for my tea. I'll spend a couple of hours this evening making the zombies move and die, and also include the civilians which you have to protext before the zombies infect and the civvies themselves become zombies.
Curry. Yum.

Just had another couple of hours blast. It now works as a game, though the presentation is lacking. The zombies come crawling in and can be gunned down in a nice reassurring splatter. My task for tomorrow will be to add sound and do the introduction screens.

Another go on a wet Sunday Morning. Added the intro and instructions pages. My last entry was very simple but people couldn't figure how to play. Odd. So heres a nice looking extra help.

Just hammered out some baisc sounds. I'm almost done! I just need some sort of connection between each level, like a brief ongoing story. But the Ludum Dare website is down! Oh no! What do I do?

I've just included a very cheesy storyline to keep the interest between each level. And I'm pleased with the result. It won;t win any awards for technical innovation or originality, but I'd like to think it is a nicely solid competant entry. Enjoy :) Now I just have to upload the results.
