This site is
about filmation. The isometric technique employed in
knight lore, alien8 and pentagram.
It is not concerned about the history of the game and does not provide
tips on completing the games, it is about documenting the isometric engine.
It includes the following:
- A Windows filmation viewer. This application allows you to view in
detail each game, including an interactive map, room analysis, room
object characteristics, special objects
- Editor built into the viewer to allow the modification of Knight Lore
and Alien 8 rooms and the creation of new snapshot files
- Details on the file structure used in the games
- Maps
- Export files. These are generated from the Windows viewer and describe
the games and the map/rooms/objects in various file formats: raw output,
debugged output, XML, IsoCis. XML is useful as a means
for transforming to other formats, e.g. HTML rendering, your own file
format for creating your own game. IsoCis is a isometric
3D engine created by me and is a c++ based engine containing most things
required for generating an isometric game, such as object management,
timers, display, room/map layout
- IsoCis tutorial covering the creation of Knight
lore
