BatManPosted on 2010-12-07 08:36:13After checking the MSX walkthrough on YouTube we found an extra room (plus one that is a bit bigger). This room actually makes the collection of one bat piece MUCH easier, so we had to include it. It is very much HIDDEN in the original, thats why it was not on any maps that we saw. Please redownload and reinstall the game. BatManPosted on 2010-12-06 21:09:22Released another minor update with some better(?) sound effects and minor bug fixes. Please redownload if you found the death sound annoying and found the highscore table a bit off now that we have a 100% score ;-) BatManPosted on 2010-12-02 21:59:22Please redownload BatMan install and reinstall if you were having problems with JoyPads not working with the game.
Sorry for the trouble. BatManPosted on 2010-12-02 18:35:25BatMan remake is RELEASED. The first isometric game by the Jon Ritman and Bernie Drummond duo is finally finished. It took us quite some time and we hope the wait was worth it. Please check the download page for the first version download.
http://retrospec.sgn.net/game.php?link=batman AdventPosted on 2008-12-03 19:31:29Seasons Greetings,
Yes, we know the advent is dated 2007. However we are deep in recession and can't afford to update the year or create new pictures.
New ports of Humphrey and Deflektor X4Posted on 2008-11-15 21:47:53Two good news: firstly, and thanks to Iñaki Martínez, Mac users can now play Deflektor X4. And secondly, all of you PSP owners have a Humphrey port for your console, thanks to Diedel's hard work. Thanks a lot to both of you! TranzAm updatePosted on 2008-07-06 03:39:30Mac Version Now available for TranzAm.
Version 1.1 of TranzAm for PC is now available. This has updated graphics and the ability to use the online high-score table as soon as you get 1 cup. Note, high scores using 1.0 will now fail on the original version. Mac will also fail until a new version arrives. Keep your eyes peeled ;)

Sabre Wulf back from the deadPosted on 2008-05-23 00:55:48Title says it all, Sabre Wulf is back by popular demand. Alien 8: source code releasedPosted on 2008-05-22 18:09:17Hi all, the source code of Alien 8 is already available and free for you all to download and take a look at, if you are interested on such things :) Isomot v1.0 releasedPosted on 2008-05-18 13:22:28While the source code of Alien 8 is being given a lick of paint so it can be released, you can already download Isomot v1.0, the isometric engine Alien 8 uses, and use it for your own isometric games :) Alien 8!Posted on 2008-04-29 00:53:07Yay, Alien 8 is finished!

Pen-Pen Xmas Olympics releasedPosted on 2007-12-24 00:02:32A Retrospec Xmas 2007 Special is released. Its last day of the Advent and we present "Pen-Pen Xmas Olympics" - not a direct remake, but a remake of the good old ski down the slope genre. Compete in Slalom, Downhill and Ski-Jump over several tracks.
Merry Crimbo everyone! Wizball for the Mac!Posted on 2007-12-07 12:39:36Well, Peter Hull actually finished porting this about a month ago but I've had my head up my arse in the interim so I've only just got around to posting it. Sorry Peter, I'm a bad, bad person. Head over to the game's page and grab it Apple-o-philes! :) StuffPosted on 2007-11-24 16:53:07Just a few minor things. First up we've added the ability to pass on the word about our games via facebook, digg, stumble and delicious.
Secondly, the Christmas Advent Calendar might just be making an appearance this year. Wizball Patch (again)Posted on 2007-11-04 20:25:26Told you it'd be the first of many. Also main download replaced with V1.02. Shouldn't need any more patches for a while now... Wizball PatchPosted on 2007-11-04 15:16:55This is the first patch (of many, I suspect). It fixes the issue with Wizball's hiscores going into the Exolon DX hiscore table (d'oh!) and also includes a debug executable using a more recent version of Allegro and AllegroGL. Sadly as it's a debug executable it'll run a little slower, but it may help those of you who can't run the game in a window. Wizball FinishedPosted on 2007-11-03 12:10:06It's done. It's dusted. It's Wizball!
Click yourself over to it's page and start choking on 24Mb of goodness. :) Z80pc Assembler UpdatePosted on 2007-10-18 06:42:16Version 1.2 of the Z80 PC Assembler is now available. This update fixes some minor bugs with the jump instructions (specifically those using the carry flag) and has some added features including address override (see usage notes under help) and basic syntax highlighting.
Same place as before for the downoad: http://retrospec.sgn.net/game-overview.php?link=z80asm Zub ReleasedPosted on 2007-06-16 23:12:43Zub is finished, go grab it. Tile ExtractorPosted on 2006-10-31 09:55:24Tile Extractor is now at version 2.5 and includes some bug fixes and a bitonal option. This lets you process maps in black and white to reduce all those duplicate tiles that are only different by colour, especially useful for Spectrum screenshots maps, for example Starquake is reduced from 2500 tiles to 98. Deflektor X4: source code availablePosted on 2006-10-13 14:40:46If you want to see a clear example of dodgy coding, go and take a look to the source code of Deflektor X4, that has just been released. Well, it may be dodgy, but it does the job :) Kiss my ASM...Posted on 2006-10-03 17:55:33Here's a little something to sort the men from the boys. Whether you're an old pro or just fancy experimenting with Z80 code, you can now do it from the comfort of your PC and load the results into your favourite emulator.
Click HERE to get the Z80 PC Assembler. New Day, New ToolPosted on 2006-10-02 22:58:10Ever looked at a game map from WOS or ZX-Maps and thought it'd be great to get at the graphics that made up the game? Well, now you can.
Tiler
Tile Extracter's purpose is to take a map of game, extract the unique tiles and give it to you in numerous formats for using in a game (various graphic/sheet/tile engine formats). Or simply just to see tile graphics in the game.
Left! Right! Left, Right, Left!Posted on 2006-08-05 11:52:23I've just been tinkering with a Spectrum Emulator and added a automatic track-and-field button bashing device. So if you load in, say, the infamous Daley Thompson's Decathlon and activate the Hyperspeed(tm), little Daley's legs will start spinning as fast as a Spectrum could handle the inputs. In real life the rubber keys would be mashed into the membrane.
Download from here to achieve a perfect score in Hypersports. Humphrey again!Posted on 2006-07-30 12:26:43Humphrey can now be played on you GP2X! Thanks again to Traperic, who made this port available to all of you :) Atic Atic ReleasedPosted on 2006-05-19 13:32:48Atic Atic is finished (finally!!). Go grab yerself a copy from here FreeBSD anyone?Posted on 2006-05-11 20:53:19If so,your'e lucky then, as we've just released Humphrey's FreeBSD binaries, knidly compiled by our friend Emilio Florido (thanks a lot, mate!).

PD: Hey, this is a bit repetitive, isn't it? ;) Linux anyone?Posted on 2006-04-16 19:43:29If so,your'e lucky then, as we've just released Humphrey's Linux binaries, knidly compiled by our friend Traperic (thanks a lot, mate!).
Have fun! New Deflektor X4 versionPosted on 2006-03-13 00:01:16New Deflektor X4 version ready to download. It fixes a bug on the hiscore code generation, and another problem with the text fonts. And now you can use the mouse wheel for a better mirror control. Deflektor X4 released!Posted on 2006-02-28 20:37:06Releasing a new game is a nice way of passing over February, so here you have it!
The old Costa Panayi's classic with a brand new look: Deflektor X4

New MemberPosted on 2006-02-07 12:26:35Hello,
After a few years following the migration path of Norwegian deer, one of the Retrospec early members, Peter Hanratty, has rejoined and is eager to continue from where he left off.
Where was that you may ask, well unless you know, you'll have to wait.
Of course, whether he'll finish is up to the moon really.
Exolon - now for Macs!Posted on 2006-01-29 11:46:35Righty, another week another update to Exolon. All-round good egg Peter Hull has kindly ported Exolon to the Mac platform, and has had a right old 'mare doing it thanks to my shoddily selotaped together code! However a big thanks to Peter for his efforts and here's hoping the last minute source changes I made haven't utterly broken everything in the game.
Also, I've updated PC Exolon to v1.04 as well so that like the Mac version it removes a few bugettes which have crawled out of the woodwork in the past weeks.
EDIT: D'oh! Turns out you only get 1 life in the PC V1.04 of Exolon DX - I am a big stupid idiot (thanks to Pixel Person on the forums for spotting my stupidity!) I'll upload a tiny wee fix for it tonight and a fix version V1.04 as well. Should be only a coupla' K.
EDIT: Patch now available and at 50K it's a snip. Instructions on how to use it inside the zip file. If you can't understand them, then you obviously never owned a real computer. ;) Posted on 2005-12-28 21:19:37Exolon DX is done. It's dusted. It's probably full of bugs. But it's out and you can download it if it takes your fancy.
Bare in mind it needs a 3D card to work. And I don't mean one of those pop-up ones you got for Christmas...
EDIT: I've fixed an enemy behaviour problem in the game's later levels. Either download the upgrade file (40K) or the whole V1.03 shebang (13.8MB) for a fix. Version 1.03 will also hopefully rectify the game on some machines where it crashes after the loading bar disappears or after it gets to the menu. There's a debug version included with V1.03 in case you still have problems.
You can also visit the forum ChristmasPosted on 2005-12-01 09:53:17Retrospec wishes all a merry christmas :)
Sadly, it was a choice of crack on to get a few games released before christmas (fingers crossed) or do the advent calendar. In the end the games won.
If you want to see last years! then visit past advents

Graphics Ripper 1.05 availablePosted on 2005-07-05 11:40:15New release of Graphics Ripper - this time with two new and very reliable Palette Searching functions (Amiga UAE Snapshots only) Passing of a good friendPosted on 2005-07-03 21:17:30It is with total regret that we have to inform you that Steve Phelps (The Toker) has sadly passed away :(
Steve was a site admin and owner of Retro Remakes and his dedication to the remakes scene is one that will be sorely missed.
It is a really sad time for us all in the remakes community and I have personally lost a very good friend.
Russ. Isomot vb0.5 releasedPosted on 2005-05-29 20:33:36Isomot, the isometric engine for Allegro, has just reached it's vb0.5 version. Now it includes room darkening, dirty rectangles, and a few more goodies. Go and follow this link to find out more :) Harrier Attack againPosted on 2005-05-24 20:53:45A few minor bits and pieces have been tightened here and there. Playing with no joystick installed is now more forgiving.
Download from here as always.
Always the bridesmaidPosted on 2005-05-02 23:37:14Head over Heels has been voted second best remake ever in PC Zone. Not bad really. I'd make a comment on the one that beat it and the others in the list but their website sites either don't have the files or they are impossible to download without paying.
Anyway, there isn't much to see, but you can visit our (not very well updated) Media page
ExolonPosted on 2005-04-23 01:04:47Well,
You thought it was dead after Russ stopped working on it.
Graham has taken over the job and it is nearing completion. Check out the new screenshots
For those interested, the game is written using a scripting engine (Retrengine) created with a combination of Allegro and OpenGL.
Enjoy. More minor newsPosted on 2005-03-08 00:54:03No new games yet (though we are working hard!)
But we do have a new poll to replace the mini one (idea thanks to Joules P.) and lots of new languages - latest one is Portuguese - keep them coming :-)
